The US government may confiscate citizens' assets during the next fiscal crisis, but Bitcoin will save the day, says former Coinbase CTO Balaji Srinivasan. 🚀
In a piece titled "Bitcoin > Budget", Balaji expressed concerns about the huge US national debt and fiscal deficit that might force the country to take drastic steps.
According to Balaji, recent examples of the government confiscating other people's personal property include the freezing of $600 billion in Russian foreign reserves by the US and freezing the bank accounts of Canadians linked to the 2022 Freedom Convoy protests.
In the latter case, protesters turned to Bitcoin as an alternative funding source, successfully transferring more than 14 BTC to a truck after other donation methods were blocked.
Balaji believes that “Bitcoin maximalism” would attract many adherents if governments tried to confiscate assets in more difficult ways, such as knocking on doors.
"At least it will be clear that the budget cannot save us," he concluded. "Only Bitcoin will do."
Let's discuss in the comments column! Do you agree with Balaji's predictions? 🤔💬
