At Binance, user funds are always safe.
Binance launched the SAFU (Investor Protection Fund) in July 2018 to protect investors from losses caused by extreme conditions or security issues. Over the past few years, we have monitored the size of the SAFU fund to ensure that its balance remains at a level sufficient to protect user funds.
In January 2022, we announced that the total value of the SAFU fund reached $1 billion. However, due to the recent market conditions, the current value of the SAFU fund is $735 million. You can click on address 1 and address 2 to check. Both wallet addresses contain BUSD, BNB, and BTC asset combinations.
As of November 2022, we have recharged the SAFU Fund to $1 billion. We promise Binance users and the crypto asset ecosystem community that the SAFU Fund will always remain at a considerable size. We will continue to fulfill this promise and continue to build the industry.
In addition to protecting the interests of users, SAFU itself also represents: trust, integrity and transparency.
Retail traders and investors have placed great trust in centralized cryptocurrency trading platforms.
Thatâs why we are calling on other centralized exchanges to follow our lead and publish their insurance fund wallet addresses. Users need to know if they are transferring their hard-earned money to a platform that is secure enough and fully transparent in the management of user funds. When users deposit on Binance and use our products, they can be sure that we are responsible for the security of user funds and that Binance has never acted as a trading firm or hedge fund. We have heard a loud and clear message from the community: the industry needs to not only meet user needs, but also exceed user needs.
It is our responsibility to ensure that users feel safe in the cryptoasset ecosystem. Strong cybersecurity measures are only part of the equation; the other part is a safety net that can minimize damage in the event of an emergency.
In the future, SAFU will continue to be an important part of our commitment to ecosystem security, and we will keep pace with the times and adapt to changing market conditions.
