The founder of the Terra cryptocurrency project, Do Kwon, faces 40 years in prison if convicted of fraud.
Kwon was captured in Montenegro, where he was accused of using false documents. South Korea and the United States are fighting for the extradition of the disgraced businessman, where he is suspected of organizing a scam that provoked the collapse of the Terra ecosystem and the collapse of the TerraClassicUSD (USTC) stablecoin rate.
Recently, a representative of the South Korean prosecutor's office, Dan Sung-Han, gave an interview to the Wall Street Journal. He believes that Kwon should be tried in South Korea, not the United States, since he committed the largest number of crimes in this country.
We have collected a huge amount of evidence in the TerraUSD case. Many of them concern information that is difficult to obtain in the United States,” Dan noted.

However, Kwon is unlikely to want to return to his homeland. According to Sung-Han, Do will face a more severe punishment in South Korea than in the United States. In the Asian country, he could be sentenced to imprisonment for 40 years or more. In the US, Kwon faces up to 25 years in prison for securities fraud.
