Following legal action from Riot Platforms and the Texas Blockchain Council, the U.S. government is ceasing its emergency assessment of power consumption in the Bitcoin mining sector.
The lawsuit, securing a 14-day delay, challenged the mandatory submission of power usage data, claiming the Energy Information Administration (EIA) did not adequately justify the survey's urgency as mandated by federal law.
In response, the Department of Energy and the EIA have agreed to retract the survey and assured the destruction of all collected data.
