Within a week of Musk acquiring Twitter, a total of 3,700 employees were laid off. Former employees said Twitter violated federal and California laws by laying off employees without adequate notice. Some employees launched a class-action lawsuit against Musk's Twitter in federal court in San Francisco on Thursday. The federal Workforce Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act restricts large companies from making mass layoffs without at least 60 days' notice. The lawsuit seeks a court order requiring Twitter to comply with the WARN Act and restrict the company from soliciting employees to sign documents that would waive their right to participate in the lawsuit.
