Sota Watanabe, the setter of the Japanese Web3 standard and founder of the Japanese public chain Astar Network, posted on Twitter that the president of Japan's largest mobile operator NTT DoCoMo announced at a press conference that the company will invest 500 billion to 600 billion yen (approximately 34 billion to US$4 billion) to develop Web3-related infrastructure and services, mainly based on blockchain technology. NTT DoCoMo will also establish a new company focused on Web3 and begin operations from fiscal 2023.
