The reState Foundation recently hosted an online conversation where Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin and Indian mystic Sadhguru, founder of the Isha Foundation, discussed the intersection of technology and human consciousness.
In his opening remarks, Vitalik emphasized that the core of blockchain technology is "coordination and interaction" between people. He said: "(Blockchain) is designed to help different groups of people come together, so that they can trust each other more and collaborate across greater distances on many different types of projects."
He went on to point out that the gap between the speed of technological development and the speed of human morality and consciousness development is growing, and the latter is being left behind. Buterin emphasized that emerging technologies are actually making it easier for people to identify complex identities and connect with each other on a common basis. "Ultimately, every technology is a social technology to some extent,"
“These tools can help people organize. There are tools that can help people identify what they value in common,” he said. While emerging technologies won’t solve all of a user’s problems, agreements and disagreements in the space have the potential to lead to “collaboration” and learning opportunities.
He noted: “I think these are ideas that a lot of people that I know in the Ethereum and related communities really care about.” (Cointelegraph)
