Well-known Chinese crypto-journalist Collin Wu reported that advertising for the website of the popular crypto wallet Imtoken in the Chinese segment of Google leads to a phishing site.

According to him, fake wallets are flooding search engines and forming a chain that poses a threat to unsuspecting users.

Cybersecurity company SlowMist urged users to be careful, confirming that this is a new type of scam that uses Google Docs.

In February, the team at the popular crypto wallet MetaMask warned the community about cybercriminals sending emails in which they ask users to fill out a know-your-customer (KYC) form and confirm seed phrases in order to “keep user funds safe.”

MetaMask does not perform KYC and will never send you an email about your account! NEVER enter secret words to restore access to the site.

If you receive an email from MetaMask, Namecheap or anyone else today, please ignore it and do not click on any links!

It is believed that the mailing data leak occurred on the side of the NameCheap domain registrar; most likely, the service suffered from a hacker attack.
