Game studio Vinci Games completes $5.1 million seed round of financing, led by Makers Fund

Vinci Games, the studio behind the VR basketball game Blacktop Hoops, has completed a $5.1 million seed round of financing led by Makers Fund, with participation from Y Combinator, Soma Capital, Pioneer Fund, Anorak Ventures, BonAngels, and Twitch co-founder Kevin Lin. Vinci Games was previously backed by Y Combinator and successfully completed a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign in September 2022, raising $60,000.

The funds raised will be used to develop Blacktop Hoops, which is currently available for purchase on Quest 2 through Quest's App Lab distribution channel and for PC VR headsets on Steam. Blacktop Hoops first released an alpha version in April 2022 and now includes multiple online multiplayer game modes, including 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 and 4v4 matches. (Road to VR)
