In the rapidly evolving Web3 industry, it is important to recognize and reward those who work hard to overcome obstacles and pave the way for future generations. As a company committed to diversity and inclusion in our industry, we recognize that everyone should have equal opportunities to develop and build their careers.

In honor of Employee Appreciation Day (March 3) and in anticipation of International Women's Day (March 8), we want to share the stories of Binance employees across different divisions. We hope their experiences serve as inspiration to others and demonstrate the important role diversity plays in the world of Web3 and beyond.

“Now, at the dawn of the development of the crypto industry, many opportunities are opening up for those who are passionate about blockchain and are ready to learn new things. Educational resources are more accessible today than ever, so I believe today is the time to break into the industry, regardless of gender or background. We take user education seriously. We launched Binance Academy with the goal of providing free education to everyone to inspire innovation and creative projects that will help us build a better future together,” says Yi He, co-founder of Binance.

What's interesting about working at Web3?

In an industry that literally operates around the clock and is paving the way for monetary freedom, we face many challenges every day. But it's these challenges—along with the opportunity to change the world of finance together—that inspire our colleagues to achieve new things. We spoke with several Binance employees about what makes a career at Web3 attractive to them.

“I was interested in learning more about this technology, and a position with a company leading the field seemed like the perfect fit. The best part of my job is interacting with colleagues from all over the world who share my enthusiasm and are undoubtedly experts in their field. I am continually amazed by how we work together to achieve great results,” says Kirby, a brand promotion specialist.

Katherine, VIP Account Executive, echoes this sentiment: “The innovation, the energy, the community of like-minded people is what I love most. Everyone is constantly creating something, and the opportunity to be at the forefront of the financial revolution is incredibly inspiring.”

At Binance, we love trying new things and focus on learning. To keep up with the dynamically changing world, we are constantly looking for ways to acquire new knowledge and skills.

“I believe that a willingness to learn and adapt to change is a critical skill for anyone who wants to work at Binance. The crypto industry is constantly evolving, so the ability to react quickly and flexibly is a must,” says Františka, who is interning in the marketing department.

The main challenges women face in the crypto industry

According to an August 2022 CoinGeek study, the lack of quality educational resources is one of the biggest challenges for women who want to work in the Web3 industry.

Binance continually strives to educate users about the benefits (and risks) of the cryptocurrency space. We regularly hold events where we show and tell what work in our industry is like and how best to prepare for it.

And here’s what Binance employees themselves say about the issues that seem most important to them.

“We pay special attention to networking. We recently held a conference “Women in the Crypto Industry” and plan to organize similar events in the future. Our goal is to educate women around the world about the blockchain industry and build trust in our industry. The world is full of talented and diverse women who are passionate about Web3, so our job is to connect with them,” says Salina, an HR professional.

Alice, a technology executive, agrees: Her biggest problem is that companies underestimate how powerful women can contribute. “I was able to overcome this barrier through constant learning and daily practical work. My advice to anyone wanting to work in this industry is to be strong, confident and don’t allow yourself to be labeled,” says Alice.

“In many industries, there are fewer women than men in leadership positions. But sometimes the main obstacle is our internal attitudes. To take a place among the leaders, you need to believe that you deserve it. Sometimes it is internal limitations that prevent women from realizing their potential. Web3 is a fast-growing industry for which there is no manual yet, so any ideas will be useful here,” says Kim, an HR specialist.

One of the biggest obstacles for women who want to work in the Web3 industry is the stereotype that it is a male-dominated field. “If you believe social networks, you would think that the topic of cryptocurrencies is predominantly men. But there are also many women working in this field, especially at Binance. If you want to be a part of this industry, my advice is to take action,” recommends Kylie, a social media expert.

What Employee Appreciation Day and International Women's Day mean to us

This year we decided to celebrate not only International Women's Day, but also Employee Appreciation Day. We understand how important it is to represent the views of diverse members of the Binance community and share their experiences and successes. Here's what our colleagues say about these holidays.

  • “We salute women around the world for their strength, resilience and creativity.” Kim, HR Specialist

  • “These days we celebrate the contribution of our colleagues around the world to a common cause. Individuals and organizations come together to express gratitude to each other for shared achievements—past and, just as importantly, future.” Kirby, brand promotion specialist

  • “This is an opportunity to shed light on the challenges we still face due to gender inequality, as well as highlight initiatives that help find solutions to pressing problems and reduce social gaps.” Caroline, Communications Specialist

  • “For me, International Women’s Day is a global celebration, a moment when women come together to celebrate achievements and opportunities achieved. This is a time to celebrate the strength and resilience of women, and the equality of all people on the planet.” Kylie, Social Media Specialist

We are proud of our commitment to diversity and inclusion. We are committed to providing everyone with an equal opportunity to succeed and believe that everyone can contribute to the global Web3 movement.
