Is AI a threat to humans and Web3 a false proposition?
Organized by: Foresight News
At the roundtable forum "The Future of Web3 under the Wave of GPT-4" at the "FORESIGHT 2023" annual summit co-organized by Foresight Ventures and Foresight News, Wang Jianshuo, founder of Baixing AI, Zeng Yinglong, partner of Zhichun Capital, Zhu Tong, partner of Mandala Ventures, and Joy Xue, co-founder and COO of KOIVERSE.AI, discussed hot topics such as the combination of AI and Web3 and whether the threat of AI to humans is a false proposition with the host Liu Ren (founder of DoNews).

The following is the transcript of the roundtable:
Liu Ren (host): Mr. Wang Jianshuo, when did you first use ChatGPT?
Wang Jianshuo: We started using GPT in 2020. When we used GPT-3 to write novels, we gave it up later. In fact, Columbus had already arrived in the New World two or three years ago, but it didn’t seem to have much impact. We used Chat at the beginning of this year. It was actually when Columbus returned with gold that people realized the usefulness of the New World. However, it took two years from the discovery of the New World to the “return of gold”.
Liu Ren (host): What’s the difference between how you feel at the beginning of this year and now?
Wang Jianshuo: People can only be shocked by a technology once, and that moment was during the Spring Festival. It has been used more and more recently. More than 60 people in the company have been developing it for three months. We use it more as the bottom layer of a system rather than a tool, so there are more things that can be discovered.
Liu Ren (host): Mr. Zeng, you invest in both Web3 and AI. When did your preference change?
Zeng Yinglong: The entire investment logic of our fund is "computing power liberates creativity". We will look at all scenarios or AI that can reduce the creativity of ordinary people through technical variables. In the past five years, we have paid attention to Crypto and AI, and we have taken these two out as the main line. There are some scenarios in the financial field in Web3 that are very valuable for implementation.
Liu Ren (host): Joy Xue is working on AI. Can Web3 be used in AI products?
Joy Xue: After AI came out last year, it was indeed a revolution in production tools, releasing a lot of creative productivity. In the past two years, Web3 has been a very popular word, but the application scenarios of the metaverse have not covered a wider range of industries. Now that AIGC has come out, there are two levels of empowerment. The first is conversational communication, which can get what you want/content. The machine has memory and understanding. The other level is the "general brain" behind it. In addition to the general large model, there is a lot of space for private large models, which will open up a lot of application space for the metaverse.
Wang Jianshuo: The human brain is more like ChatGPT. Dopamine and other hormones in the human brain control our brain, and ChatGPT's hormones are the assets in its wallet.
Joy Xue: What drives ChatGPT must be what humans want it to go towards. Its logical reasoning is derived from feedback. Whether pure monetary incentives can provide continuous feedback is still somewhat unexplainable in terms of logic. AI requires Web3 scenarios. There are many controversies now, such as the fear that humans will be replaced. People are even more afraid of large models being controlled by large companies. However, if it is placed on Web3 and on the chain, it can actually solve the problem of being controlled by giants in the real world.
Liu Ren (host): Recently everyone has been talking about the threat that artificial intelligence poses to humans. What do you think about this issue? Is the threat that artificial intelligence poses to humans and Web3 a false proposition?
Wang Jianshuo: I am an avid technology optimist. I believe that as long as productivity is improved, it will be of great benefit to mankind. I don’t see any particularly big problems. Although there are some minor problems, they will definitely be solved. The more industries are impacted by ChatGPT, the greater the opportunities they will have. Industries that are not impacted will inevitably wither.
Liu Ren (host): The last question is for Joy Xue. How will you use Web3 faster in your products?
Joy Xue: As AI practitioners, what we provide is production tools. There are two aspects of application in Web3. On the one hand, we push products to Web3 application scenarios, and create private models and private data clones based on the information of individuals or small organizations, and then push them to Web3 application scenarios. The other is (not targeted at us at present), for large models, we put them on Web3, use distributed computing power, storage, data input and feedback, and appropriate incentive mechanisms to move them to the Web3 space, so that more talents can share the benefits of the current AIGC progress.
