【A sideways market doesn’t mean nothing’s happening—it means bulls and bears are both waiting for someone else to put their money on the line】

The easiest mistake for retail traders to make is seeing ETH down just 0.1% in 24 hours and 1.3% over a week, then saying it “hasn’t fallen.” That’s lazy thinking. The price is trapped between 2,178.45 and 2,287.79, trading volume is low, and neither the structure nor the volume has confirmed a breakout. Whoever hits the trade button first pays tuition first.

My signal is clear: wait and see, with a bearish bias. I’m not talking down ETH; when there’s no volume, direction isn’t worth much. FNG is at 28, with a weekly average of 32. Fear is present, but nowhere near extreme—like a crowd clutching their chips and waiting for someone else to show their hand. Rushing to buy or short is just mistaking emotion for a signal. I saw this playbook back in 2017, and the way people get burned hasn’t changed.

In practice, low trading volume hits short-term traders most directly: with too little volatility, fees and the cost of waiting kick in first. Long-term holders keep waiting for confirmation; no one is obligated to buy into your position for you. Does the business logic hold up? Yes. When the market lacks new capital, waiting on the sidelines is itself the cost most people pay.

I say I’m waiting, but I’m itching to trade too. I made money in 2021 and then gave it all back. Now I can only admit this: when you’re unsure, the market really is better at calling it than you are.

Which way is your signal pointing this time? Bullish, bearish, or still waiting?
