Binance is asking some customers in Europe to withdraw all their crypto before December 31, 2026, because the exchange has not completed the licensing process required under the EU’s MiCA regulations. Starting November 29, affected accounts will begin incurring monthly maintenance fees if they still hold assets.
Specifically, Binance will charge a monthly fee of 0.025% of the crypto balance or 10 USDC. If an account’s balance is lower than the fee, the entire balance may be charged.
Binance has disabled deposits, but customers can still withdraw crypto and fiat currency. Accounts that still hold assets after December 31 will be considered inactive, and the assets may be converted or transferred.
Countries where users have reportedly received notifications include France, Spain, Italy, and Poland. Binance said this is part of a service-restriction process following the end of the transition period under MiCA regulations, while affirming that it is still seeking a license to continue operating in Europe.
