【Follow Lao Jiu, and fortune is yours】Tether invests €28.8 million in Juventus capital increase as USDT issuer continues expanding its presence in sports!
Stablecoin giant Tether has made another move in traditional finance.
On November 7, Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Tether would participate in Serie A powerhouse Juventus’s €250 million capital increase, contributing approximately €28.8 million based on its current shareholding of about 11.527%.
This means Tether is not only the issuer of USDT, but is also becoming more involved in traditional sports through equity investments.
📌 Three details about this development are worth noting:
1️⃣ Tether is already Juventus’s second-largest shareholder
Tether currently holds approximately 11.5% of Juventus, second only to controlling shareholder Exor. The capital increase is being led by Exor, with a total size of up to €250 million. Tether will participate in proportion to its shareholding to avoid dilution of its stake.
2️⃣ Tether previously attempted to acquire Juventus
In December 2025, Tether made a binding offer to Exor to acquire all of its shares in Juventus, but the offer was rejected.
From its earlier acquisition attempt to its continued participation in the capital increase today, it is clear that Tether’s investment in Juventus is not a short-term financial move, but reflects a degree of long-term strategic intent.
3️⃣ Supporting the capital increase does not mean endorsing all of the club’s business decisions
Notably, Tether supported the capital increase plan at the shareholders’ meeting on November 3, but abstained from voting on other ordinary resolutions, including the approval of financial statements showing a loss of €66 million.
This shows that Tether is willing to continue investing, but does not mean it is entirely satisfied with the club’s current performance.
