Amundi brings ETH on-chain; Amundi is Europe’s largest asset manager
Amundi has moved a €22.8 billion index fund onto Ethereum.
Specifically, it’s a Stoxx Europe 600 UCITS ETF, which has opened a tokenized share class, with shares registered and transferred directly on-chain. Amundi is Europe’s largest asset manager, and this move is more substantial than issuing a stablecoin.
Until now, tokenized assets have mostly been government bonds and money market funds. This time it’s an equity index fund, which makes a difference: on-chain transfers are possible 24/7, and reconciliation can be automated, saving on back-office and clearing costs.
The code and management fee haven’t been specified, but the direction is clear: traditional asset management is genuinely moving on-chain, not just jumping on the bandwagon.
