I took a look at the weekend headlines Sunday morning. The market was lying flat, but the money wasn’t.

First, the macro picture: October nonfarm payrolls came in at 165,000, versus expectations of just 64,000—more than double. The odds of a December rate hike have climbed to around 78%. Morgan Stanley says adjustments are nearing their end, but Powell’s dot plot doesn’t care what the investment banks think.

AI continues to attract big money: OpenAI raised another $11 billion at a $1.25 trillion valuation. Anthropic is even more ambitious, eyeing an IPO in November at a $1.5 trillion valuation and looking to raise $80–100 billion. There’s no sign the spending race is cooling down.

Crypto is moving too: Coinbase increased its Bitcoin holdings to 18,000 BTC, and Strategy’s STRC touched $100 for the first time in five months. Samsung Wallet has enabled USDC transfers on 82 million Galaxy devices—stablecoins are no longer just an inside-the-crypto-world thing.

My take: Rate-hike expectations are certainly a headwind, but capital keeps crowding into the strongest narratives. Weekend liquidity is thin, and the November 9 new moon is still looming. Positioning is always worth more than opinions.
