Last night, 80% were still bullish. This morning, 94% have flipped bearish—what did these top traders see overnight?
Satoshi Index data at 6 a.m. this morning: Across the top 100 traders on Hyperliquid, Lighter, dYdX, and Pacifica, 94% of the 24-hour cohort were short, with $2.37 billion in shorts versus $158 million in longs.
Last night, the same group was still 80.6% bullish. They flipped overnight. The $BTC numbers are even more extreme: 60 long accounts versus 160 short accounts, $38 million long versus $738 million short. Longs are down to just 5%.
The 7-day cohort is 93% short, and the 30-day cohort is 91% short—all three groups are bearish. The 24-hour cohort is sitting on $124 million in unrealized profit; last night, they were down $22 million. Same story with $ETH : it fell from 2,248 to 2,235.
But retail traders aren't buying it: the 4-hour long/short ratio is 2.8, with 73.7% still going long. The liquidation map shows $41.1 million in shorts stacked at 77,095, and $37.1 million in longs stacked below at 74,508. Liquidity on both sides.
$BTC is currently at 75,756, less than 2% from either liquidation zone. One caveat: the index picks a new group of traders every hour, so it may not be the same people flipping sides.
A: Follow the top traders. There's a reason 94% are short—if 74,508 breaks, watch for 73,000.
B: Retail is long, and shorts are clustered at 77,095. One short-squeeze wick could wipe them all out.
