In He Yi’s November 7 statement, Kaiser Ng said he was leaving of his own accord to work on a new project, and that the handover had been underway for six months.

He became Binance’s CFO in January 2022 and had been with Binance for more than five years. He previously worked at Kraken. His successor is Justin Yek, who recently joined from Airwallex, where he had been vice president of finance.

The statement came exactly nine days after the October 29 theft of $6.3 billion. It did not say when he would officially leave or what the new project was.
