In February 2021, a Yearn governance vote passed proposal YIP-57, minting 6,666 new YFI tokens, most of which were allocated to the treasury and contributor incentives.
“Fair launch” only describes how tokens are distributed. It doesn’t mean the price won’t fluctuate wildly, or that the protocol is free from smart contract risks.
