XMR Serialization Patch Still Under Review | Unsupported Nested Arrays May Be Rejected | Stay Disciplined Near $601

My stance is to remain on the sidelines. Pull request #11687 in Monero’s official code repository proposes having the epee serialization layer reject nested array structures that are currently unsupported. The submitter explained in the discussion on November 6 that Cuprate has already rejected empty nested arrays, while monerod itself does not send such structures, so the expected compatibility impact is limited. The review page shows a maintainer approval, but the request is still marked Open. It should not be described as merged or deployed, much less used to claim that the network has just been attacked. The latest official release visible on Monero’s website is still version 0.18.5.4, dated October 16. These two stages of progress must be kept separate.

Underlying boundary checks affect how nodes parse incoming data. If unsupported data structures enter deeper processing, they could lead to inconsistent behavior or additional resource consumption; rejecting them at the entry point helps tighten protocol behavior. But this is only a proposed change awaiting merge, and there has been no official disclosure of an actual attack, theft, or mainnet outage. The discussion also mentions that a future serializer might support the relevant structures, so it is not accurate to say they will be disabled forever. This is an engineering maintenance signal, and it does not immediately change coin supply or market demand.

Trending Topics on Binance Square have focused on U.S. employment, CPI, Bitcoin ETFs, and similar subjects, while XMR did not appear in the six-hour Most Searched list. Binance News, Research, and OTC official accounts have also made no related conclusions about fund flows. On October 28, the Federal Reserve kept its target interest rate range at 3.75% to 4.00%; what comes next depends on the data. Net outflows from Bitcoin ETFs can only serve as a reference for overall risk appetite, not as a measure of fund flows into XMR products. Privacy features do not automatically make an asset a safe haven.

The market has already provided a more direct temperature check. Kraken’s XMR/USD was trading near $601.53 at around 08:13 Beijing time on November 8, with a rolling 24-hour high of $614.88 and low of $593.66. Today’s open was about $600.02. The price remains in the lower part of the previous day’s range, with no sustained buying so far in response to this PR. For the short term, I’m watching $593.66 as the lower boundary and $614.88 as the level that would confirm a return to strength. If the price breaks below the lower boundary and fails to recover it for two consecutive hours, I’ll drop any short-term bullish assumptions. If it holds above the upper boundary, I’ll reassess volume and order-book depth. The price on a single exchange does not represent the entire market, and these levels should be updated as new market data comes in.

If I were trading this myself, I would stay out for now and consider only an unleveraged spot long. The conditions would be for XMR to close above $614.88 for two consecutive one-hour candles, find support on a pullback to $612, and for Kraken spot trading volume to exceed the average volume for the same hours over the past 24 hours. If those conditions are met, I would use no more than 0.4% of my total funds to open a starter position. I’d first take half off at $625, then half of the remaining position at $638. The initial stop-loss would be below $605. After entry, I’d close the remaining position if the price closes below $612 again on a one-hour candle, or if serious compatibility issues emerge in the PR discussion. If $593.66 breaks first, I’d cancel the plan and not average down against the trend; if the price goes straight to $625 without triggering the entry conditions, I wouldn’t chase it.
