Elliptic November 7 update: There has been new progress in tracking the funds stolen from Binance. The hacker has converted the stolen cryptocurrency into about 2,300 bitcoins (approximately $175 million). The funds have moved through more than 20,000 wallets, 16 chains, and over 65,000 transactions; however, most of the stolen Ethereum remains untouched. Elliptic notes that the key to cashing out the stolen funds is not swapping coins on-chain, but finding counterparties willing to take them; about $2.85 billion has so far been frozen or seized.
