BTC breaks below 73,000: stop-loss or call the trade?
If 73,000 USD is decisively broken—especially if the daily candle fails to close back above it—we can no longer explain the move as “buying the dip” in the short term. We need to treat it as a weakening trend.
First, the key levels:
- Around 73,000 USD: The 200-day moving average and the previous low area form the short-term dividing line between bulls and bears.
- 73,000–73,200 USD: If this range repeatedly fails to hold, the liquidity zones below are around 72,900 and 71,000.
- Around 68,000 USD: If ETF outflows continue and risk appetite in U.S. equities does not recover, the market will be watching this lower support level.
- 77,000–78,000 USD: Reclaiming this range would be a sign of short-term stabilization.
If BTC breaks below 73,000, here’s how I’d handle it:
- Short-term long positions: If it breaks below 73,000 and fails to recover within 30 minutes, reduce your position first; if it falls below around 72,900, exit with a stop-loss.
- Spot holdings: Don’t stubbornly hold on—reduce your position to a level that lets you sleep at night.
- Looking to buy the dip: Don’t catch the first bearish candle that breaks support. Wait for selling pressure to ease on higher volume or for price to reclaim 77,000–78,000 before considering it.
You can call a trade, but don’t blindly call a bottom.
A real bottom isn’t guessed; it’s confirmed by fund flows, net ETF inflows, and price stabilizing above key levels.
A break below 73,000 isn’t the scary part. The scary part is refusing to admit you were wrong afterward.
The above is for market observation only and does not constitute investment advice. Crypto assets are extremely volatile; please manage your risk accordingly.
