Let’s start Saturday afternoon with a big story: Chinese regulators have stepped in. A Solana promotional event scheduled for October in Shanghai was called off, and the organizers are under investigation, reportedly for crossing the red line set by the cryptocurrency ban.

The funniest part is that the two sides’ accounts don’t match at all. Solana Foundation President Lily Liu said the event was postponed because “registrations exceeded the approved capacity,” while the official verdict was that it constituted illegal promotion. One side says it was too popular; the other says it wasn’t allowed. That’s a pretty high communication cost.

The same central bank also announced another holding: it added about 25.8 metric tons to its gold reserves in October, marking 24 consecutive months of buying. Banning crypto assets while quietly stockpiling gold—the message about what’s allowed and what isn’t couldn’t be clearer.

Overseas, AI is also being squeezed for excess: OpenAI has cut its fundraising target to $20 billion, Anthropic is launching its IPO roadshow next week, and valuation expectations have been pushed down from $1.5 trillion to around $1 trillion. Investors are getting pickier; if the story doesn’t hold up, the price has to come down.

$SOL : What’s been hurt here isn’t the price, but expectations for market access—don’t expect the door to the Chinese market to open anytime soon. Liquidity is thin over the weekend, and with the uncertainty surrounding the new moon in the Middle East on November 9, manage your positions and don’t get carried away.
