The numbers are eye-catching, but “market cap growth” and “net inflows of real money” are not the same thing.
A Cointelegraph post said that the market cap of tokenized stocks on X Layer grew by $79.6 million in seven days, compared with $14.3 million on Arbitrum and $7.1 million on Robinhood Chain. These figures refer to market cap growth, not total market cap, and certainly not sales.
I think this is worth keeping an eye on, but it’s not enough to prove that long-term demand is established. One interpretation is that a new sector is expanding; another is that interest is concentrated in the short term. I’d rather see whether the growth can be sustained and what rights the products actually confer. Don’t assume that the word “stock” means the rights are the same, and price volatility risk doesn’t go away either. When assessing a new sector, do you look first at its size or at the product terms?
