Market Maker’s Perspective: $BTC closed above 76,000 for three candles in the afternoon, then came back down in the evening

Data (20:38 snapshot): Current price 75,902.6, 24h high 76,257.8 / low 74,800.1, approximately -0.37% over 24h. OI: 34,461.2 coins, approximately $2.616 billion, down about 159.4 coins from midday. Current funding rate: 0.0043%/8h. A sample of 100 trades showed 55 aggressive buys and 45 sells, just a reference for that moment.

Full-day review:
From 08:00–12:00, five candles closed at 75,872.7, 75,999.3, 76,000, 75,857.4, and 75,863.9, all grinding within the 75,600–76,000 range. The 09:00 close was 75,999.3, just $0.7 short; the 10:00 and 13:00 candles both closed exactly at 76,000.0, which doesn’t really count as holding above it.
The 14:00 candle closed at 76,001.4, just $1.4 above 76,000; the 15:00 candle closed at 76,056.3 and the 16:00 candle at 76,161.8, putting all three closes above 76,000. The 17:00 high of 76,216.8 was the day’s peak. The midday invalidation level, “check 76,351 again,” was never touched; the day’s high still fell $134.2 short. The 18:00 candle closed at 75,961.2, back inside the range, and the 19:00 candle closed at 75,943.9. The move above 76,000 lasted only three candles.

If I were the market maker:
Those three afternoon closes above 76,000 were shallow: the lowest was just $1.4 above it, and even the 16:00 close only reached 76,161.8, still $189.2 below 76,351. A genuine breakout on strong volume should continue closing above 76,000 and head toward 76,351, rather than falling back into the range in a single 18:00 candle. On the other hand, dropping back below 76,000 doesn’t necessarily mean weakness: the 19:00 close was 75,943.9, still $343.9 above 75,600; today’s lowest wick only reached 75,367.8 (the 00:00 candle), and no candle closed below 75,600. Both sides were tested today, but neither move continued. The market maker has no need to rush tonight.

Overnight, watch closing levels only:
1H close above 76,000: retest the range top, then look to 76,351
1H close above 76,351: breakout above the upper boundary, then look to 76,530
1H close below 75,600: downside continuation, then look to 74,800.1
The first key confirmation point is the 21:00 close (the close of the 20:00 candle); the 20:00 candle’s in-progress low is 75,902.6, but its close is not yet determined, so this is not a trigger.
