U.S. CPI due next week | Rate hikes are only market expectations | BTC holding $75,000 still needs confirmation

My stance is to wait and see, not to treat forecasts as outcomes before the data is released. Binance Square’s trending topics are discussing #CPITestsDecemberRateOutlook, and the issue could indeed affect BTC. But first, let’s get the timeline straight: the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics calendar shows that October’s Consumer Price Index is scheduled for release at 08:30 a.m. Eastern Time on November 10; as of now, the official October CPI figure has not been released. The Federal Reserve’s October 28 decision kept the federal funds target range at 3.75% to 4%, and the next regularly scheduled policy meeting is December 8–9. So “a December rate hike” is currently just how markets are pricing future data and policy—not a decision the central bank has already made. Presenting an inflation estimate or probability as an official conclusion would undermine the basis for any subsequent trading plan.

Why can this affect BTC? If CPI comes in above market expectations, traders may revise the expected rate path upward, changing dollar funding costs and the discount-rate pressure on risk assets, while leveraged positions may be more likely to unwind. If inflation cools, risk appetite may improve. But markets don’t look at just one number: core components, employment, officials’ comments, and existing positions can all change the reaction. I’m especially focused on the difference between a “data surprise” and price confirmation: even if the data is positive, if BTC spikes and then immediately falls back into its previous range, there’s no reason to chase the price just because the macro narrative sounds favorable. Conversely, hotter-than-expected data doesn’t automatically mean BTC will fall; we need to see whether the dollar, yields, and spot-market demand are moving in the same direction.

The market hasn’t yet given a clear directional signal. When checked on Kraken, BTC/USD was around $75,907, with an opening price of 75,741.6, an intraday low of around 75,692.6, and a high of around 76,146.9; the 24-hour range was 74,790 to 76,227.8. The price is holding above $75,000 but hasn’t convincingly broken above the 24-hour high. Farside’s tally shows net outflows of around $411.9 million from U.S. spot BTC funds on November 6, suggesting that institutional channels have not been consistently net buyers recently either. That table reflects fund flows from the previous trading day; it should not be treated as spot sell orders at this moment. The latest disclosure on Strategy’s website still shows a total of 849,327 BTC as of November 2; social media hints are no substitute for a formal disclosure of additional holdings. Macro events, fund flows, and corporate holdings should be verified separately.

If I were trading this myself, I wouldn’t enter now; my position would be 0%, and I’d only consider an unleveraged spot long. Before the data release, I’d consider allocating no more than 0.35% of my account funds only if BTC first breaks above $76,228 and then holds on a retest for at least an hour, with no significant increase in volatility. My first target would be $77,000, where I’d sell half; my second target would be $78,000. If the remaining position falls back below $76,228, I’d close it immediately. I’d set a hard stop-loss below $75,100 after entry and exit immediately if it’s hit. If the price first breaks below $74,790 and can’t quickly reclaim it, the long plan is invalidated. If the November 10 data leads to a significant upward revision in rate expectations, I’d reassess even if the price briefly rebounds, rather than mechanically following the old plan. Holding support is just an observation, not a profit or trade record.
