Bitcoin mining difficulty has remained below its peak of 155.97 trillion for 374 days, the longest period in the network’s history. This peak was set on October 29, 2025.

This period surpassed the previous record of 364 days following Bitcoin’s 2011 crash and 253 days after China’s 2021 mining ban. Economist Saifedean Ammous called this a new era for Bitcoin mining.

Difficulty dropped to 124.93 trillion in mid-June 2026, around 20% below the peak, then recovered to 148.36 trillion in October. Mempool.space expects the figure to fall by another 3.7% around November 13.
