Open interest is changing—how do you read the direction of the futures market?

Before taking this trade, look at the funding rate. It’s more honest than the candlesticks.

Futures only care about three sets of numbers. Everything else is noise.

1. BTC 75984, 24h 74888-76378, change -0.16%.
2. BTC open interest notional: $7.29 billion, 24h +0.61%
3. Account-wide long/short ratio: 3.02

My take: The funding rate at -0.0009% is close to zero, and the long/short ratio is 3.02. Leverage hasn’t picked a side. If it hasn’t picked a side, don’t use high leverage to pick one for it.

Execution zones (based on current price ± structure, not an old chart):
- Momentum zone: Consider chasing only after it breaks above 76,592. Without a break, it’s a false breakout.
- Buy the pullback: 75,072-75,528. Don’t buy if it loses that level.
- No-trade zone: If the 1h candle closes below 74,616, skip this trade.

My position: Watching. Price hasn’t picked a side, and leverage hasn’t paid up. Opening a position now means working for the exchange.

Data: Binance spot 24h / Binance USDⓈ-M / Yahoo daily (5-day change) / altme_fng / mempool_fees / defillama_chains / coingecko_trending. Missing figures are left blank.
Would you place a limit order at the pullback level, or wait for the candle to close?

Useful tip: When the mark price and index price diverge, liquidations hit the thinner side first.
Inspiration: ETH is weaker than BTC: liquidity is contracting, so pause right-side entries in altcoins.
