The “consensus” the US and China have reached lately just keeps growing:
China: Crypto shouldn’t be a thing.
US: And don’t build AI data centers in my backyard.
One is worried about the financial risks of cryptocurrency; the other about the electricity costs, water use, and environmental impact of AI computing.
China used to build infrastructure, while the US led financial innovation.
Now look at us: one is restricting crypto, while the other is starting to oppose AI infrastructure.
The tech race hasn’t even been decided yet, and both sides are already busy making things harder for themselves.
