The claim that “Kazakhstan’s central bank put $100 million into crypto funds” is making the rounds — but something about it doesn’t add up.

The claim: Kazakhstan put $100 million into crypto funds, with Brevan Howard Digital named as one of the recipients. The source: a widely circulated post on X.

The facts: three media outlets that investigated the claim — Crypto Briefing, Crypto News, and AlphaMaven — found no official announcement. Neither the National Bank of Kazakhstan (NBK) nor Alem Crypto Fund has confirmed the $100 million figure, and there is no official link to Brevan Howard Digital.

What has been confirmed is different: the NBK does plan to invest up to $350 million in crypto-related instruments using its gold and foreign exchange reserves (Reuters, March 2026; Cointelegraph, October 2026). But that’s a plan — its first allocation is scheduled for April–May 2026 — and it is NOT a direct BTC purchase, but rather investments through ETFs, funds, and shares in infrastructure companies. The figures of $90 million in BTC ETFs plus the rumored $100 million mentioned at the November 5 Almaty conference also come through a single source chain (Bloomberg via Galaxy Research), with no second official confirmation.

Conclusion: NOT PROVEN for the $100 million/Brevan Howard version.

My take: a central bank getting into crypto is big news — which is exactly why the claim needs to be checked, not swallowed whole. A documented official plan and an unverified claim on X are two different things, and conflating them only makes the narrative bigger than the facts. Meanwhile, BTC itself is still flat at around $76,000, with no new catalyst from this news.
