When last night’s nonfarm payrolls data came out, I stared at the screen in shock for a few seconds!
165,000, when expectations were only 65,000—that’s more than double~
And the unemployment rate fell to 4.1%…
Honestly, these numbers are ridiculously strong. I was still hoping for a rate cut in December, but now the odds have jumped straight from 67% to 80%.
We can’t count on a rate cut anymore.
Simply put, money is about to get more expensive again.
When the dollar strengthens, risk assets are the first to take a hit. $XAUT Gold already started plunging last night. $BTC and $ETH haven’t crashed along with it,
but don’t assume they’ll be immune either. There’s only so much liquidity in the market, and rate hike expectations are weighing on things, so institutions don’t dare make aggressive moves!
As for altcoins, well, don’t even get me started. Once liquidity dries up, there’s no getting out.
I trimmed some of my altcoin positions yesterday. When the macro outlook shifts like this, staying alive matters more than anything~
Of course, looking at it the other way, there could still be an opportunity. If the December rate decision turns out to be a case of “sell the rumor, buy the news,” or CPI unexpectedly cools next week, these expectations could be reversed at any moment. Then a whole different group of people will be left behind. So I haven’t sold everything—I’ve just lowered my leverage🥳
