Came across a pretty solid update: USDT is heading back to Bitcoin.

Dubai-based startup Utexo has set November 28 for its public beta launch. It uses RGB to keep transfer details off-chain, with settlement anchored to Bitcoin; Lightning integration is planned for Q1 2027. Tether led its seed round, and issuance will use USDT0: first, USDT0 is locked on Arbitrum, then an equivalent amount of USDT is minted on the Bitcoin side.

This isn’t the first time. USDT got its start on Bitcoin back in the Omni era in 2014, before issuance stopped in 2023. This time, the pitch is privacy plus payment speed. UniSat is a launch partner, and Mint has opened Signet testing to exchanges and market makers. The CEO says the goal is to get at least $1 billion worth of USDT onto Bitcoin within a year.

Bridge risks remain—Mint has to trust that the assets locked on Arbitrum can be redeemed. Stablecoins on ETH/TRON are already in the $300 billion range. Whether Bitcoin can establish a foothold this time will depend on how things go at the end of the month.
