A couple of off-the-cuff thoughts before the U.S. market opens

Don’t use last week’s rate-cut story to explain today’s market.

To see which sectors are leading and which are falling behind, look at the percentage moves, not the stories.

Dow Jones 51,286 (5-day -0.94%, Yahoo)
10-year U.S. Treasury 4.86% (5-day -0.72%)
Gold 4,075 (5-day +2.65%, Yahoo)

My take: The U.S. Dollar Index is still strengthening, up +0.52% over 5 days, while BTC is up +0.53% over 24 hours. This isn’t looser liquidity; it’s an independent move, and I’m skeptical it will last.

Capital flows: BTC 76185 (+0.53%). ETH is stronger than BTC, up +0.84% versus BTC’s +0.53%, with an exchange rate of 0.02952. This looks more like risk appetite spilling over, not BTC moving on its own.

VIX is now 25.64. Once it gets above 18, I cut my futures positions in half. I’m not going to argue with U.S. market closing prices.

My position: on the sidelines. Prices haven’t picked a direction, and leverage hasn’t paid off. Opening a position now would just mean working for the exchange.

Data: Binance spot 24h / Binance USDⓈ-M futures / Yahoo daily data (5-day change) / altme_fng / mempool_fees / defillama_chains / coingecko_trending. I won’t fill in missing numbers.
When meme coins aren’t outperforming BTC, are you still holding them?

Practical takeaway: If there’s downtime or abnormal block production, close high-leverage positions first, then figure out why things are wobbling.
Food for thought: Open interest is falling while price is flat: reducing positions isn’t accumulation; the market hasn’t paid for a direction yet.
