XRPL has finally plugged a major hole: fixCleanup3_4_0 was activated on November 4. Previously, an account with only burn permissions could, under certain conditions, turn around and mint tokens issued by others, including stablecoins. It took approval from 33 of 35 validators to push through, and the activation ledger was 108,112,129. The good news: $XRP ’s own supply isn’t covered by this permission system, so it wasn’t affected, and there are currently no public records of the vulnerability being exploited. The bad news: this hole had been open for a full month, ever since the delegation feature went live on October 8. XRP bounced from a low of $1.23 to above $1.30 at the time, but the rally didn’t hold; another market sell-off sent it back down to around $1.16. Once the good news is priced in, it’s still at the mercy of the broader market. #XRP #XRPL
