Before keeping an eye on funds, first get the basics down. This time, let’s talk about the Lightning Network.
Two parties without a direct channel can make payments through a route linked by other nodes. Hash Time-Locked Contracts (HTLCs) ensure that nodes along the route can’t withhold the funds.
If you run your own Lightning node, try to keep it online as much as possible, or use a watchtower service to prevent the other party from settling the channel using an old state while you’re offline.
The Lightning Network still transfers $BTC ; it’s just that most payments don’t need to be written to the blockchain individually.
