Binance is shutting its doors in France — and customers who are late withdrawing their funds will be charged a monthly fee.

The facts: Binance France will close all customer accounts on Dec 31, 2026, after failing to obtain EU MiCA authorization before the Jul 1, 2026 deadline; France’s regulator (AMF) removed it from the PSAN register on Jul 2, 2026. Starting Nov 29, any remaining balance will incur a monthly fee of 0.025%, with a minimum charge of 10 USDC. Deposits have already been blocked and trading for French residents has ended — withdrawals are the only thing still available. Customers were notified by email in early Nov 2026 (CryptoBriefing & Cryptonomist, Nov 7, citing Cryptoast/Cryptoactu).

My take: This isn’t about Binance globally — the global platform is unaffected — but it’s concrete proof that MiCA is starting to bite: even the world’s largest exchange has to leave an EU country if it doesn’t get its license approved. For French customers, the message is clear: withdraw before Nov 29 or watch your balance shrink with fees each month.

What I’m watching: whether Binance will serve French customers through another entity, and whether other EU regulators will follow France’s lead.

Do you think rules like MiCA protect customers, or do they just narrow their choices?

This is my analysis, not financial advice — always DYOR.
