🚨 $16 billion in funds are under scrutiny! The U.S. Treasury has taken direct action against MEXC, sounding the alarm once again over exchange compliance!
The U.S. Treasury is getting serious this time!
According to the latest announcement, FinCEN has decided to cut off financial transactions between MEXC Global and the U.S. financial system, prohibiting U.S. financial institutions from making any fund transfers with it. The measures will take effect 30 days after publication in the Federal Register.
Why such a severe crackdown?
The U.S. Treasury alleges that between May 2021 and May 2026, MEXC was involved in at least $16 billion in fund flows related to sanctions evasion, cybercrime, and other activities. This includes approximately $22 million linked to Iran and nearly $1.5 billion related to sanctions evasion by Russia.
It’s important to note that these are allegations made by the U.S. Treasury. This does not mean that all the funds in question have been legally determined to be illicit.
🧠 In my view, this sends a very clear message to the entire crypto industry: competition among exchanges is no longer just about trading volume and fees. Compliance capabilities also determine how far a platform can go.
In the past, people focused on which exchange had better liquidity or more perks. Now, they also need to ask: Are my funds safe? How much regulatory risk is there?
For ordinary users, don’t focus only on market trends and returns—platform risk must also be taken into account.
When a bull market arrives, everyone wants to make money. But if the platform itself runs into trouble, even the best market conditions may be irrelevant to you.⚠️$MAGMA $GTC $CLANKER
