Microsoft reportedly gradually ends its lease of Oracle AI computing capacity
According to Bloomberg, Microsoft is gradually ending its agreement to lease AI cloud computing capacity from Oracle: it has declined to renew the contract and has shut down related resources in recent months. The report says the reason is that older-generation chips no longer meet its needs.
Oracle responded to questions about earlier GPU demand. Microsoft declined to comment, and the contract value was not disclosed. This is the move of a single customer, and does not mean overall demand for AI computing capacity is weakening. See the image for details.
