Last night’s most gut-wrenching moment: nonfarm payrolls added 165,000 jobs, versus expectations of just 59,000. As soon as the good news came out, everyone got even more nervous.
Because the data was so strong, the odds of a December rate hike jumped to around 78%. The Nasdaq rebounded 1.09%, and AMD surged more than 10% in a single day, but the index still fell 3.4% for the week—its fourth consecutive weekly decline.
My take: this week, bad news knocked the market down once, and good news knocked it down again. I’m sitting tight over the weekend and will see next week whether AI stocks can find their footing on their own.
Do you think the recovery will continue next week, or will we see a second bottom?
