A transfer to Crypto.com doesn’t mean a dump.
Trump Media transferred about 4,259 BTC to Crypto.com this week, worth roughly $340 million. Crypto influencers immediately jumped on the headlines: “99.99% liquidation,” “DUMP.” On-chain news outlets were a bit more measured: the wallet is labeled as collateral for 2028 convertible notes, and the amount matches the company’s disclosures; similar transfers in the past went into custody, with no confirmed sale. As of around the end of July, the company held about 14,139 BTC in total, so this is only part of its holdings.
On November 30, holders of roughly $1 billion in notes have a window to demand repayment in cash. Moving collateral from a wallet at a time like this looks more like debt management than the “sell signal” being touted online.
Whoever gets followers with the word “DUMP” gets paid first. If you’re jumping on the bandwagon to buy the dip or go short, first learn to tell a transfer from a sale.
