🔷 Crypto Legends: 850,000 $BTC that are gone
Mt. Gox was the largest Bitcoin exchange of its time. In 2014, it collapsed.
The exchange lost around 850,000 BTC. Later, around 200,000 were found, while another 650,000 remained missing. A Tokyo court appointed a trustee, and creditor repayments dragged on for years. The deadline was pushed back again and again: from 2023 to October 31, 2027.
According to Arkham, as of October 20, 2026, Mt. Gox wallets held around 34,400 BTC (~$2.8 billion). The planned repayment is calculated at around 142,000 BTC, so no one ever promised that everything would be returned in Bitcoin.
Here’s what struck me: you can lose everything quickly, but getting it back takes years. And it’s not over yet.
Would you leave your coins on an exchange? Or use a wallet, period? 👇
