Ukraine’s central bank has made clear that it does not support the current virtual assets bill.
The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) said the current draft regulations on virtual assets pose significant risks to monetary sovereignty, financial stability, and fair competition, and therefore cannot be supported. The bank also raised questions about the transparency of the legislative process.
· This means there is still no consensus on virtual asset legislation in Ukraine, including at the central bank.
· The three risks cited by the central bank concern the bill itself and do not amount to a judgment on virtual assets as such.
If the draft is to move forward, will the central bank’s position be taken into account in revisions?
