Gold briefly touched $4,100 intraday, then fell back to $4,071.64, down 1.47% over 24 hours; silver was at $51.94, down 2.39%. The rally couldn’t hold, and prices are pulling back from their highs.
The derivatives side is more worth watching. Gate’s XAU contracts had about $613 million in trading volume and about $220 million in open interest, ranking third among centralized exchanges globally on both metrics. XAG trading volume was about $415 million, with open interest at about $134 million; both ranked second. Prices have pulled back, but positions haven’t unwound.
Metal contracts trade 24/7, with USDT settlement and the ability to manage them in the same account as stocks, forex, and indices. This setup is convenient for traders keeping an eye on the markets, but it also means leverage is always available.
Key things to watch: whether gold can reclaim 4100, and whether positions continue to build or start to shrink during the pullback. The first reflects sentiment; the second shows who’s holding the risk.
