Let’s talk about the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM).
EVM execution must be deterministic: the same input must produce the same result on every node, or the nodes won’t be able to reach consensus.
One thing worth thinking about is that “EVM compatibility” lets projects write a contract once and deploy it on multiple chains—but it also means that the same types of contract vulnerabilities may exist on several chains at once.
Before interacting with a contract, check whether its source code has been verified on a block explorer. Be especially cautious with contracts whose source code isn’t public.
When you call a contract on Ethereum, the EVM charges Gas for every instruction it executes, paid using $ETH .
