🐋 Open interest in $BIRB 15-minute contracts increased by 5.32%, with an open interest value of approximately $7.43 million; the price rose 5.45% over the same period.
To see most directly whether leveraged funds are flowing in or out, look at open interest—but make sure you interpret the figure correctly.
Open interest value = number of coins held × price. When the price rises, the open interest value increases too; comparing the number of coins is the only way to tell whether new positions have actually been opened.
The larger the open interest, the greater the impact contract positions can have on the price. A sudden spike or drop could trigger a cascade of liquidations.
The same data can mean very different things in different market conditions, so don’t blindly apply a one-size-fits-all rule.
