$HYPE Hyperliquid accelerates its U.S. expansion: applies for regulatory license to open perpetual trading ..

Hyperliquid, one of the biggest decentralized giants in perpetual futures (perps) trading, has taken a formal step toward entering the U.S. market in compliance with regulations:

1. FCM license application:
Hyperliquid Strategies (PURR), the publicly traded company that accumulates and stakes the native $HYPE token, filed an application with the National Futures Association (NFA) to operate as a Futures Commission Merchant (FCM) for its subsidiary HypeStrat Markets, under the supervision of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).

2. The technical mechanism (HIP-3):
If approved, the company will manage U.S. user accounts in permissioned markets enabled under the HIP-3 standard, operating directly on Hyperliquid's infrastructure. This would open the door for U.S. customers to access the platform for the first time; until now, they have been blocked from the global platform.

3. The political and regulatory battle:
The plan has the support of President Donald Trump, who wants to make the U.S. the epicenter of perpetual markets backed by the CFTC. However, the application—originally filed in August—remains pending and faces legal resistance from traditional participants in the U.S. derivatives industry, along with uncertainty about the new balance of power in Congress.

Hyperliquid clarified in its quarterly report that there are no guarantees regarding the timing or final outcome of approval for these regulated markets.

Do you think the CFTC will ultimately authorize perpetual contracts on U.S. soil, or will obstacles from the traditional financial sector block the project?
