šŸ‡¹šŸ‡ Thailand is set to license crypto derivatives—is high leverage about to get safer?

On October 29, Thailand’s Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) published 8 consultation papers proposing to include crypto assets among the underlying assets covered by the Derivatives Act and to open a licensing path. Note: The proposals are still under consultation; licenses have not yet been officially issued.

šŸ“‹ Key points of the draft
• Existing digital asset operators can apply for a derivatives business license using their current company, without setting up a new one
• The proposed license fee is 500,000 baht; existing digital asset exchanges, brokers, and dealers are proposed to be exempt from application and license fees
• Only exchanges and brokers may apply to operate a derivatives exchange
• Deadline for comments: November 28

āš–ļø Market impact
Bringing derivatives under the regulatory framework lowers the cost of entry for compliant firms, which could benefit licensed platforms in the long term. But ā€œlicensedā€ does not mean ā€œlow riskā€: 10x and 50x leverage can still magnify losses when markets are highly volatile.

šŸ“‰ Key BTC levels (currently around $75,800, down about 5.7% over 24 hours)
• Support: $75,200 (today’s low)
• Resistance: $78,000 / $80,500

šŸ¤” What do you think? Will licensing and compliance make things safer for newcomers, or lead more people to mistake it for a ā€œprotected casinoā€? Join the discussion in the comments šŸ‘‡
