Your Galaxy already works for cards and plane tickets. What if tomorrow it could also send digital dollars?

Samsung has just enabled the Stablecoin Account in Samsung Wallet in the United States. Of the approximately 82 million compatible Galaxy devices, eligible users can buy, hold, send, and receive $USDC —right in the app, with no other crypto wallet and no need to manage private keys.

Settlement runs through $SOL (Solana). Bastion provides the infrastructure, while Coinbase holds the funds as a sub-custodian through Coinbase Prime Vault. It’s not a bank account—Samsung makes that clear. No FDIC coverage.

What stands out to me: you can also send money to bank accounts in more than 60 countries, with the option to receive it in local currency. Fees vary by destination. Sending USDC to another Samsung Wallet or an external wallet: no Samsung fees (other providers may charge).

Limitations: age 18 or older, Android 13+, U.S. residents except those in New York. Card top-ups: around 4%.

My take: this isn’t “everyone is getting into crypto.” It’s a phone maker putting an on-chain dollar next to your credit card. Sometimes adoption happens through the app you already open ten times a day.

Would you rather have a digital dollar on your phone, or does it still feel too opaque?
