ME News, November 6 (UTC+8) — Hong Kong Deputy Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury Joseph Chan said at a meeting of the Legislative Council’s Financial Affairs Panel that Hong Kong would further optimize its preferential tax regimes for funds, single-family offices and carried interest. The measures include expanding the scope of the tax exemption to cover sizable funds with a single investor, as well as more types of qualifying investments, such as loans and private credit investments, digital assets and precious metals. The measures could take effect from the 2025/26 tax year once the relevant amendment bill is passed. Chan also said that Hong Kong’s central gold clearing and settlement system would officially launch in the first quarter of next year, providing efficient and reliable clearing services for over-the-counter gold trading in line with international standards.
