AVAX – AN UNDISCOVERED GEM? ANALYZING AVALANCHE’S POTENTIAL OVER THE NEXT 1–3 YEARS

In the crypto market, some projects have strong technology, but their token prices do not reflect investor expectations.

Avalanche (AVAX) is a case worth analyzing.

This is not a new project. Avalanche has built its own blockchain ecosystem, developed DeFi, expanded into RWA, and aims to provide blockchain infrastructure for institutions.

But the more important question is:

Does Avalanche’s growth really create value for the AVAX token?

Let’s analyze it with SONA from a long-term Spot investment perspective.

1. AVALANCHE – MORE THAN JUST A LAYER 1 BLOCKCHAIN

Avalanche was designed to address blockchain limitations in scalability, processing speed, and flexibility.

What stands out is its multi-chain architecture and the ability to deploy Avalanche L1s.

Instead of requiring all applications to run on a single shared blockchain, organizations and developers can build their own blockchains with suitable configurations.

This is a noteworthy approach as businesses increasingly look to bring assets and financial activities onto the blockchain.

An important development was the Etna upgrade, launched in December 2024.

This upgrade lowers the barriers to deploying Avalanche L1s and expands the ability to develop dedicated blockchains.

SONA’s perspective: Avalanche is competing on more than transaction speed. The project aims to become infrastructure that enables ecosystems and organizations to build their own blockchains.

2. WHAT VALUE DOES THE AVAX TOKEN HAVE?

A project with good technology is not necessarily a good investment.

What we need to consider is the token’s role in the ecosystem.

AVAX has several key utilities:

  • Paying transaction fees on the Primary Network.

  • Staking to help secure the network.

  • Supporting validator operations.

  • Participating in activities related to the Avalanche ecosystem.

Notably, transaction fees on the Primary Network are burned, removing some AVAX from the supply.

However, it’s important to note that not all economic activity on Avalanche L1s directly creates demand to buy AVAX.

This is a distinction investors need to understand:

Network growth does not necessarily mean the token’s price will rise.

3. TOKENOMICS – DOES AVAX HAVE A SUPPLY ADVANTAGE?

One notable feature of AVAX is its maximum supply cap of 720 million tokens.

Key characteristics:

  • Maximum total supply: 720 million AVAX.

  • Initial supply: 360 million AVAX.

  • New tokens are issued through staking rewards.

  • Transaction fees on the Primary Network are burned.

The positive aspect is that the supply is capped.

However, AVAX still faces pressure from new token issuance through staking rewards.

Therefore, we should not simply conclude that AVAX is a deflationary asset.

What needs to be monitored is the rate of new issuance compared with the number of tokens burned.

If network activity grows strongly enough, the burn mechanism could help support the token economy.

4. RWA – AVALANCHE’S COMPELLING GROWTH STORY

If I had to choose one area to watch in Avalanche’s future, I’d be especially interested in RWA (Real World Assets).

RWA involves bringing real-world assets onto the blockchain in tokenized form.

Examples:

  • Bonds.

  • Investment funds.

  • Real estate.

  • Traditional financial assets.

Why does RWA matter?

Because the crypto market cannot grow solely on speculation between coins.

For long-term expansion, blockchain needs to connect with the real economy.

Avalanche is positioning itself as infrastructure that can support financial applications and enable institutions to deploy dedicated blockchains.

This is a story with potential, but investors still need to verify the amount of real assets actually brought onto the network, their level of use, and the revenue generated.

Technology is the foundation. Users and cash flows are what prove value.

5. THE COMPETITORS AVAX MUST OUTPERFORM

Avalanche operates in a highly competitive market.

Notable competitors:

ETH – A vast DeFi and Layer 2 ecosystem.

SOL – Focused on speed, low costs, and user experience.

SUI – A new architecture aimed at scalability and consumer applications.

COSMOS – An ecosystem focused on building dedicated blockchains.

AVAX has advantages in blockchain customization and the Avalanche L1 architecture.

However, technological advantages only matter if they attract developers, users, and liquidity.

This is a competition in which Avalanche must continue to prove its capabilities.

6. VALUATION – DON’T JUST LOOK AT THE ATH

A common investor mistake is seeing that AVAX once reached around $146 and assuming that if the current price just returns to its ATH, their investment could multiply several times.

But an ATH is not an asset’s fair value.

To value AVAX, we need to consider:

  • Market cap.

  • FDV.

  • Circulating supply.

  • Issuance schedule and staking rewards.

  • TVL and stablecoin liquidity.

  • Activity on Avalanche L1s.

  • Demand for using the AVAX token.

A growth scenario only really makes sense when the future market capitalization is supported by ecosystem development.

Don’t use a past price as your default investment target.

7. RISKS – THINGS YOU CAN’T IGNORE

I see five main risks:

  1. Strong competition from Ethereum, Solana, and new Layer 1s.

  2. Supply pressure from staking rewards.

  3. The ecosystem may grow without the AVAX token necessarily benefiting in proportion.

  4. Liquidity and DeFi activity could decline.

  5. AVAX remains heavily influenced by the broader crypto market’s boom-and-bust cycles.

In particular, an altcoin can fall sharply even while its underlying technology continues to develop.

Therefore, long-term investing does not mean buying at any price.

8. SONA’S SPOT STRATEGY

With a 1–3 year holding horizon, I wouldn’t buy all my AVAX at once.

Instead, I use an analysis system:

SUPPORT & RESISTANCE – LOCATION

Identify key support and resistance zones.

LIQUIDITY – ZONE

Look for areas of concentrated liquidity and liquidity sweeps.

PRICE ACTION – ENTRY

Wait for a CHoCH or BOS to confirm a change in price structure.

VOLUME – CONFIRMATION

Check whether buying pressure is actually entering when the price breaks through the structure.

RSI – MOMENTUM

Assess momentum and trend strength.

I prioritize observing the W1 timeframe to identify the broader trend, then use D1 to find entry points.

Don’t buy just because the price has fallen sharply.

Don’t FOMO when the price surges.

Don’t try to catch the bottom before the downtrend structure has been broken.

First, based on the 1W and 1M chart patterns, we can start accumulating at these price levels:

7u vs 30% of capital

6u vs 30% of capital
If it falls further, invest 20% of the capital in the 4.5 to 5u range. Keep the remaining 20% as a hedge and enter when there is a clear reversal signal (including positive DCA).

9. SONA’S CONCLUSION – IS AVAX WORTH HOLDING?

After reviewing its fundamentals, tokenomics, ecosystem, RWA, and competitiveness, I believe AVAX is a project worth adding to the watchlist for a long-term Spot strategy.

Three factors make me interested:

  1. The ability to deploy Avalanche L1s and its focus on expanding blockchain infrastructure.

  2. Growth potential in the RWA sector.

  3. The token has real utility, a capped maximum supply, and a fee-burning mechanism.

But I’d still like to see more evidence of growth in cash flows and users, and of the token’s ability to accrue value.

AVAX has potential, but potential does not guarantee returns.

A good project needs to be bought at a reasonable price and with an appropriate capital management strategy.

That’s how I approach Spot investing over the next 1–3 years.

💬 QUESTION FOR THE COMMUNITY:

What’s your assessment of Avalanche?

  1. AVAX remains one of the Layer 1s worth holding long term.

  2. AVAX has good technology, but its tokenomics aren’t attractive enough.

  3. SOL, SUI, and ETH have a greater competitive advantage.

Share your thoughts. Let’s discuss using data rather than relying solely on price expectations.
